SPTransformator Sneak Peek: Feature focus InfoPath forms

3 min read

Rencore is excited to announce that a new more-powerful-than-ever SPTransformator is arriving soon!

To celebrate this, we will post a weekly blog series focusing on one top feature per week, but first, we want to take you back to where it all began with a quote from our CEO and MVP Matthias Einig:

“The idea behind SPTransformator dates back several years as we saw the emergence of migration tools focusing on content and the platform. However, almost every large enterprise using SharePoint utilizes customizations to get the most out of it. This poses potential problems when migrating to a newer version or the cloud. Therefore, we’ve used our extensive expertise around SharePoint customizations gathered over the years and built an engine which translates those best practices into actionable guidance and actual lines of code.”

The upcoming version of SPTransformator is based on the same core values as its predecessor, and after considering extensive feedback, we have made significant tweaks to key parts of this business application. One such upgrade is that SPTransformator will scan and analyze InfoPath forms.

Feature Highlight: InfoPath forms

Microsoft InfoPath is a software application for designing, distributing, filling and submitting electronic forms containing structured data. It’s part of the Office Suite and is designed to synchronize with other Office products, for example, Word and Outlook. One big reason for InfoPath’s popularity is its ability to directly integrate in lists and workflows.

Since version 2013, Microsoft has officially stopped supporting InfoPath with updates, and as a result, it will eventually become obsolete! Enter our new feature for SPTransformator. How does SPTransformator cater for InfoPath forms? Well, it makes them accessible from its revamped assessment phase and by visualizing them helps you in understanding and replacing them.

The ability to discover, view and interpret the impact of an InfoPath form on a farm helps you to optimize the tasks and priorities of your transformation project, making SPTransformator an extremely effective assessment and project management tool at the same time. Ultimately, the new features in the latest version of SPTransformator help optimize development time even more so overall project time and costs can be kept to a minimum. Keep an eye out for the next edition in this blog series to find out more about workflow features!

SPTransformator is free and provides an initial analysis of SharePoint Full-Trust Farm solutions. Further actions, like automated assessments and code transformation, can be unlocked by purchasing credits.
