Key takeaways

  1. Governance only scales when owners take part

Administrators set the rules, but only the people who own a team or site can say who should still have access. The Teams app is the translation layer between the two, in plain language and inside Microsoft Teams.

  2. The ownership gap is real

Across nine enterprise customer tenants Rencore analyzed, close to half of all teams had a single owner or none, and close to 100,000 files were shared with external guests who had already gone inactive.

  3. Owners see and fix access in one place

Workspaces shows each owner their teams and sites with owners, members, site access and file sharing sorted by risk, and they can remove access themselves. Nothing changes until they click Save.

  4. Reviews guide owners step by step

Each step says why it matters, several owners can share one review, and the end can trigger your own archive or delete workflow, for example a backup before deletion.

  5. Roll it out in stages

Switch on one feature at a time, starting with Workspaces if you like, brand the app with your own name and logo, and plan the move from Nova and Access before both retire at the end of 2026.

Frequently asked questions

What does this webinar cover?

The launch of the Rencore Teams app: why governance breaks down between admins and owners, a live walkthrough of the homepage, requests, Workspaces and reviews, and how to set the app up and roll it out in your tenant.

What happens to the Rencore Nova app and Access reviews?

Both retire at the end of 2026. The Rencore Teams app replaces Nova, and the reviews feature replaces Access reviews. Reviews only run in the Teams app.

Can we roll the Teams app out in stages?

Yes. Each feature can be switched on separately, so you can start with Workspaces and add requests, approvals and reviews later. You can also show owners their workspaces without letting them change anything.

How quickly do owner changes reach the tenant?

Usually within 5 to 30 minutes, depending on the load on your tenant. While a change is being applied the workspace shows a banner, and owners can safely navigate away.

Does the Teams app override our Microsoft settings?

No. Rencore reads what is there and carries out actions through Microsoft Graph or SharePoint REST, and owners can only change what their own permissions allow.

Is there a cost to watch?

No, the recording is free to watch, with no form to fill in.
