Key takeaways

  1. Reviews put decisions with the people who own the content

In the Teams app, owners review owners, members, guests and site and file access step by step, in plain language. Admins choose the scope of each review, the deadline and whether a comment is required, and can export completed reviews for audit.

  2. Nova and Access reviews retire at the end of 2026

Reviews only run in the Rencore Teams app, so moving from Nova is also how you get reviews. You can roll the Teams app out one feature at a time, starting with workspaces, and switch on more as owners get used to it.

  3. Custom metadata brings your business into governance

Departments, cost centres, data classification and projects become part of the inventory. Capture them at provisioning or by CSV import, fill gaps through reviews, and use them to scope policies, cut false positives and report cost by department. Custom metadata is in preview.

  4. One inventory for Microsoft 365 and the AI beyond it

Claude Enterprise (Preview) and ChatGPT Enterprise (Preview) users are matched to the same people in Microsoft 365, so you can see who holds which seats, spend by department and licences nobody uses. Rencore reads metadata only, never chat transcripts or prompts.

  5. AI prepares, you decide

The direction for AI in Rencore: it spots issues and prepares a policy or automation, but an admin approves every action, your permissions apply, and anything AI-generated is marked as such. Next on the roadmap is an MCP connector for the AI tool you already use.
