AI governance platform
An AI governance platform is software that helps an organization inventory its AI systems and agents, apply policies to them, monitor their use and produce evidence of control across the AI governance lifecycle.
Also known as: AI governance software, AI governance tool
What the category covers
Analysts group several capabilities under the name: AI risk and compliance management, AI security, the day-to-day operations of AI governance and, more recently, the governance of AI agents. Products differ in where they start. Some begin with model risk for data science teams, others with the AI assistants and agents that employees use every day.
What to look for
For an organization whose AI runs mostly inside Microsoft 365 and a few enterprise assistants, the practical test is coverage. The platform should see the assistants and agents in use, the content and permissions they draw on, and the people who own them, and it should act on what it finds instead of only reporting it.
It should also complement the controls the AI vendors already provide, such as Microsoft Purview and the Copilot admin settings, rather than duplicating them.
Where Rencore fits
Rencore Governance covers Microsoft 365 Copilot, Copilot Studio agents and SharePoint agents in the same inventory, policies and automations it uses for Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Entra ID and Power Platform. The connector chips below show which AI connectors are available today and at which stage.
