Data loss prevention (DLP)
Data loss prevention (DLP) is the set of policies and technical controls that detect and stop sensitive data from being shared, moved or exposed outside where it is allowed to go.
Also known as: DLP
Two kinds of DLP in Microsoft 365
In Microsoft Purview, DLP policies inspect content in email, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams and on devices, and warn, block or log when sensitive information such as card numbers or health data is shared in a risky way. In Power Platform, DLP policies work differently: they group connectors into business, non-business and blocked, so an app or flow cannot move data between a business system and a personal service.
Why DLP needs governing too
DLP works only where policies exist and fit. Environments without a policy, connectors never classified, and policies that block so much that makers work around them all leave gaps. Reviewing which policies cover which environments and workloads is part of keeping DLP effective.
Where Rencore fits
Rencore inventories the connections Power Apps and flows use, together with their environments, and flags flows that use a specific connector, so you can see which apps and flows use connectors your DLP policies should restrict.
