Everyone except external users

"Everyone except external users" (EEEU) is a built-in Microsoft 365 claim that stands for every internal account in the tenant, and granting it access to a site, library or file makes that content readable by the whole organization.

Also known as: EEEU

Why it is so common

EEEU is convenient. It appears in the people picker, it is added by some templates and public sites, and it is a quick way to make something "available to everyone". Over the years it ends up on sites, libraries and folders that were never meant to be company-wide.

Why it matters for Copilot

Content shared with EEEU is reachable by every employee, so Microsoft 365 Copilot can surface it for any of them. HR files, board papers or salary data behind an EEEU grant become answerable to anyone who asks the right question.

Finding EEEU grants on sensitive locations, and replacing them with the groups that actually need access, is one of the first oversharing fixes before a Copilot rollout.

Where Rencore fits

Rencore lists the SharePoint groups and principals that hold access on sites, lists, folders and files, so EEEU grants and other broad groups show up, and owners can remove them in an access review.
