Joiner-mover-leaver (JML)

Joiner-mover-leaver (JML) is the identity process that grants, changes and removes a person's access as they join the organization, move to another role and leave.

Also known as: JML, identity lifecycle, employee lifecycle access

The three events

A joiner needs accounts, licences and the right group memberships on day one. A mover needs new access and, just as important, loses the access of the old role. A leaver has accounts disabled and licences reclaimed. Most organizations automate the account side in Microsoft Entra ID or an HR-driven identity system.

What the account process misses

Disabling an account does not hand over what that person owned. Teams, sites, Power Apps, flows and agents stay behind without an owner, and a mover keeps memberships nobody remembers to remove. The leaver footprint is where ownerless workspaces and stale access come from.

A complete JML process therefore covers ownership as well as accounts: before or when someone leaves, their workspaces, apps and agents get a new owner or are retired.

Where Rencore fits

Rencore flags Teams and groups whose only owner is disabled, Power Apps without an owner, and licences assigned to inactive users, and its automations can add a new owner to a group, Team or site.
