Teams and SharePoint provisioning
Teams and SharePoint provisioning is the controlled creation of Teams and SharePoint sites through a request, a template and, where needed, an approval, so that every new workspace starts with the right settings, owners and structure.
Also known as: workspace provisioning, self-service provisioning, template-based provisioning, governed provisioning
How it works
Instead of creating a Team or site directly, a user fills in a request: purpose, owners, privacy and sometimes a classification. The request picks a template that defines channels, libraries, apps and settings. An approver confirms it where the rules ask for one, and the workspace is created automatically, already named, owned and configured.
Why organizations use it
Provisioning moves governance to the moment of creation, when it is cheapest. It keeps naming consistent, makes sure every workspace has at least two owners, records why it exists and avoids near-duplicate Teams. Done well it is also faster for users than waiting for IT, which is what keeps them from working around it.
Where Rencore fits
Rencore provisions Teams from templates such as Department Workspace, Manage a Project, Onboard Employees and Organize Help Desk, and SharePoint communication sites and team sites, each through a request form with an approval step and a confirmation email to the requester.
