Microsoft Purview protects data with sensitivity labels, data loss prevention and retention. Rencore governs the workspaces, apps, flows and agents that hold that data, each with an owner, a policy and a lifecycle. The two work together.
Verdict: Keep Purview for classification, data loss prevention, retention and eDiscovery. Add Rencore to give every workspace, app, flow and agent an owner, a lifecycle and a cost, and to find the sites where labels are missing.

Purview protects the content, not the container. It does not track who owns a Team or site, or what happens when that owner leaves.
Rencore tracks owners, activity and sharing for every workspace and routes decisions to the right person when an owner leaves.
Purview does not archive inactive workspaces or retire unused apps, flows and agents.
Rencore applies lifecycle policies to workspaces, Power Platform apps and flows, and Copilot agents, with notice, reminders and escalation.
Purview does not report unused licences or storage.
Reclaim unused licences and storage, and attribute Copilot and Microsoft 365 spend to the teams that use it.
Purview is the Microsoft control for data: classification, sensitivity labels, data loss prevention, retention, records, eDiscovery and insider risk. Rencore does not replicate any of it.
Rencore works on the objects that hold the data. It finds sites without a label, gives every workspace, app, flow and agent an owner and a lifecycle, and routes decisions to owners in Microsoft Teams. Regulated organisations run both.
Rencore Governance is developed in Germany by an independent vendor. Your workspace data is stored in the Azure region you choose, with Germany and Switzerland among the options, and Multi-Geo tenants are supported.
Rencore is certified to ISO/IEC 27001:2022 and ISO/IEC 27017 and holds a SOC 2 Type 2 report. The certificate and reports are in the Rencore Trust Center.
Royal BAM, with 20,000 employees, estimates it saves around €80k a year by freeing its IT admin team for the work that counts. Read the story.
Rencore governs 16 Microsoft connectors today, each in one inventory with an owner, a policy and a lifecycle. Microsoft Purview does not fully govern any of them. Only Rencore governs Planner, Entra ID, SharePoint agents, Power Apps and Power Automate.
No. Purview protects data with labels, data loss prevention, retention and eDiscovery. Rencore governs the workspaces, apps, flows and agents that hold that data, with owners, lifecycle and cost. Most regulated organisations need both.
Rencore policies find SharePoint sites and Teams without a sensitivity label and route the fix to the owner. Purview defines and enforces the labels themselves.
Purview reduces what Copilot can expose by labelling and protecting content. Rencore reduces the surface: it finds overshared and ownerless sites, retires what nobody uses and governs the agents built on top.
Yes. Rencore extends its AI & Agents governance beyond Microsoft: Claude Enterprise and ChatGPT Enterprise are both in preview. They are governed in the same place as your Microsoft 365 estate and connected to the Microsoft 365 data they work with, rather than in a separate tool. Microsoft 365 and Copilot remain the generally available core of the platform.
Rencore Governance is SaaS, developed in Germany by an independent vendor. Each workspace's data is stored and processed in the Azure region the customer picks, one of five regions including Germany and Switzerland, and Multi-Geo tenants are supported. Rencore is priced by module, Digital Workplace, Apps, Automation and BI, and AI & Agents, so you pay for the scope you govern, and you can start with a 14-day free trial. Availability is contractual: 99.9% under the SaaS Agreement, with live service status at status.rencore.com.
