Where AvePoint splits the job, and what Rencore does instead

  1. Several products for one job

Workspace lifecycle, Power Platform, agents and reporting sit in separate AvePoint products, each with its own console and licence.

    One product, one inventory

Rencore governs workspaces, apps, flows, agents and licence costs in one inventory with one policy engine.

  2. Agents apart from their data

Agent governance runs in separate AvePoint products, apart from the workspaces the agents read from.

Agents next to the data they reach

Rencore governs Copilot and Copilot Studio agents alongside the Teams and sites they depend on, so an agent's reach is visible.

  3. Fabric outside the product

AvePoint offers Microsoft Fabric as a consulting service, not as governed objects in its platform.

Fabric and Power BI in the same view

Rencore inventories Fabric and Power BI next to Power Apps and Power Automate in the Apps, Automation and BI module.

Where AvePoint leads, and when to use both

AvePoint leads in backup and recovery, records management, migration and FedRAMP-authorised hosting. Its AgentPulse product already covers agents on Google Vertex AI and Salesforce Agentforce, which is on Rencore's roadmap. If your requirement starts with data protection or US public-sector authorisation, AvePoint is the stronger fit.

Rencore does not back up or archive content. Many enterprises keep their backup vendor and use Rencore to govern the estate, because governance and backup answer different questions.

Built for regulated, multinational estates

Rencore Governance is developed in Germany by an independent vendor. Your workspace data is stored in the Azure region you choose, with Germany and Switzerland among the options, and Multi-Geo tenants are supported.

Rencore is certified to ISO/IEC 27001:2022 and ISO/IEC 27017 and holds a SOC 2 Type 2 report. The certificate and reports are in the Rencore Trust Center.

Frequently asked questions

Which Microsoft services does Rencore govern that AvePoint does not?

Rencore governs 16 Microsoft services today, each in one inventory with an owner, a policy and a lifecycle. AvePoint fully covers Microsoft 365, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Viva Engage, Entra ID, Microsoft 365 Copilot, Copilot Studio agents, SharePoint agents, Power Apps and Power Automate, and covers Exchange Online, Azure and Power BI in part. Only Rencore governs Planner and Microsoft Fabric.

Where does AvePoint process customer data?

AvePoint stores customer data in the region the customer selects, on Azure, Google Cloud or AWS. Where it is processed is less clear: its sub-processor list names 22 AvePoint group companies in 18 countries for support and operations, three of them in China, and AvePoint states that its staff cannot access decrypted customer data. Rencore stores and processes each workspace's data only in the Azure region the customer chooses. Its sub-processors are in the EU or the US, the customer can switch each one off, and no customer data is processed in China.

Does AvePoint govern AI agents?

Yes. AvePoint made AgentPulse generally available in March 2026 for agents built on Microsoft platforms and Google Vertex AI, and extended it in July 2026 with ownership, sensitivity context and guardrails. Rencore governs Copilot and Copilot Studio agents in the same inventory as the Teams, sites, apps and flows they depend on, in one product. Non-Microsoft agents are on the Rencore roadmap.

Do we need several AvePoint products for full coverage?

AvePoint's product pages describe workspace governance, Power Platform governance, agent governance and licence optimisation as separate products: Cloud Governance, EnPower, AgentPulse and Cense. Rencore covers the same scope in one product, with Power Platform and AI & Agents as modules.

Does Rencore do backup?

No. Rencore governs your Microsoft estate and does not back it up or archive it. If you need backup, keep your backup vendor. Rencore does not depend on it.

Where is data hosted?

AvePoint's Trust Center lists 14 Azure regions. Rencore stores each workspace's data in the Azure region the customer chooses when the workspace is created, including Germany and Switzerland.

Does Rencore govern AI beyond Microsoft?

Yes. Rencore extends its AI & Agents governance beyond Microsoft: Claude Enterprise is in preview and ChatGPT Enterprise is coming soon. They are governed in the same place as your Microsoft 365 estate and connected to the Microsoft 365 data they work with, rather than in a separate tool. Microsoft 365 and Copilot remain the generally available core of the platform.

How is Rencore deployed and priced?

Rencore Governance is SaaS, developed in Germany by an independent vendor. Each workspace's data is stored and processed in the Azure region the customer picks, one of five regions including Germany and Switzerland, and Multi-Geo tenants are supported. Rencore is priced by module, Digital Workplace, Apps, Automation and BI, and AI & Agents, so you pay for the scope you govern, and you can start with a 14-day free trial. Availability is contractual: 99.9% under the SaaS Agreement, with live service status at status.rencore.com.
